Wednesday Night Supper FAQ

Wednesday Night Supper FAQ, Fall, 2023

We hope this FAQ will help answer any questions or concerns you may have about how Wednesday Night Suppers work at Hillside. If you have further questions, feel free to contact the church office. Thank you!

Why do we do registration like this?

We desire to have a process that will help us to collect our counts more accurately to help us better steward our resources on Wednesday nights.

How do I register?

You can register online at hillsidemn.org/wednesdayconnect , or on the Wednesday Night Supper section of the ChurchCenter app (or at hillsidemn.churchcenter.com). Registration closes each week at 11:59PM the Sunday before the meal.

How do I pay for the meal?

You can pay with a credit card when you register. If you do not wish to pay with a credit card, select “pay later” when you register online, and then you can pay with a check or cash when you check in at the welcome table on Wednesday night.

How does the Fall Pass work?

The Fall Pass is to help simplify the registration process for those who know they will be coming all spring. You can sign up once, pay for the entire fall and even get a two meal discount.  Because we are unable to offer partial refunds, we are not able to refund any individual meals that are missed with the Fall Pass. If something comes up during the fall that necessitates you no longer attending Wednesday night suppers, please contact Kara Skogg and we can issue a prorated refund.

However, if you think you may need to miss more than one meal this spring, this is probably not the best option for you, and you can simply sign up for each week separately.

How much do the meals cost?
12 Weeks of Meals Per Meal Price Total if Paying Weekly Total with Fall Pass
Large Portion $5 $80 $70
Large Portion GF $6 $96 $84
Small Portion $3 $48 $42
Small Portion GF $4 $64 $56
What do I do when I get there?

You will stop at a welcome table as you enter the cafeteria where we will check you in and collect any cash or check payment, if you choose to pay that way. This will also be an opportunity for us to greet any guests you bring, and provide information about the evening’s activities.

What if I want to bring a guest?

Wednesday Night Suppers are still intended to be an outreach opportunity, so please continue to invite guests! Guests will always be welcomed and will never be asked to wait until the end of the line, even if they didn’t register before the deadline.

If you know ahead of time that you will be bringing a guest, please register your guest(s) for the meal. You have a few options for payment for guests: 1. You can register them and pay for their meal by credit card at that time. 2. You can wait to pay (via cash or check) until you arrive for the meal. 3. You can use the discount code when you register your guest and their meal will be free.

If you want to invite a guest after the registration has closed, simply let us know when you arrive at the welcome table, or have them let us know at the table that they are your guest. “This is John Doe, my guest.” They will be welcomed and can join you in going through the line and getting their meal.

What if I forget to register?

Our goal is for everyone to register. However, if you forget, you can still come. Those in our Hillside family will be asked to wait until approximately 6PM (or when everyone who did register has been served) to get your food.

What if paying for the meal is an obstacle for me to come?

We don’t want finances to stop anyone from coming to enjoy a meal. Please use the discount code that is provided on the registration page, and your meal will be free.

Why are the meals priced this way?

Inflation has affected the cost of groceries for the meal. Hillside had subsidized the Wednesday Night Supper Ministry for many years, but we needed to raise prices last year to be able to continue to provide the type of meals that you are accustomed to being served. We believe that the meal is still less expensive than going to a fast-food restaurant.
