Someone there will be happy to answer any questions you have about Hillside. We’d also love for you to fill out an “I’m New Here” card, so that we can connect you with information about Hillside that may be helpful to you.

HILLSIDE NEWS

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 6:30pm, you are invited to our annual Hillside tradition of gathering together in the worship center to spend time giving God praise for all the blessings He so lovingly gave us this past year. There will be time for you to share what you are personally thankful for. Each family is asked to bring a pie (please drop it off in the kitchen before the service) to share during the time of fellowship in the cafeteria – another Hillside tradition! (There will be no supper or Wednesday Connect activities or programs that night. The church office will be closed Nov. 24 & 25.)

THANKSGIVING OFFERING Each Thanksgiving we take a special offering to bless a ministry financially. This year our donations will go to Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities whose goal is to provide Christ-centered, discipleship-oriented programs that restore dignity and wholeness to those struggling with homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Our donations will help them offer meals, school tutoring, one-on-one mentorship, job training assistance, and so much more! This is a great opportunity to apply our Hillside core value of generosity! To give: Hillsidemn.org/giving – click GIVE NOW – click the drop-down by General and choose Thanksgiving Offering.

THANKSGIVING GUESTS Do you have room at your Thanksgiving table for an additional guest/s? Many international students would love to experience an American Thanksgiving while they’re in the U.S. attending college. USA Homestays helps match up one-three students with a host family in the city where they are attending. Share your family’s holiday meal and traditions, and make an international friend! For more information go to usahomestays.org.

STRIKE FORCE PRAYER TEAM This prayer team is alerted when we sense a need to pray “on site” somewhere in our city. For instance, several people gathered the Sunday night before the elections in front of Bloomington City Hall to pray for the elections. An email will go out with the time and place — and an invitation for you to show up to pray for about a half-hour. If you would like to join this team and receive the alerts, contact Carol Madison, carol@hillsidemn.org.

KIDS CHRISTMAS MUSICAL Wednesday, Dec. 7 & Thursday, Dec. 8, 6:30pm – the Hillside Kids Christmas Players are excited to present this year’s Christmas musical, Sheep in Heavenly Peace. You’re invited to an evening of songs and silliness, all wrapped up in a message about the Good Shepherd Himself. Invite your friends and neighbors! *Note: Wednesday’s performance will also include performances by Hillside Preschoolers and Kindergarteners.

HOLIDAY HOPE DRIVE-THRU FOOD PICK-UP Friday evening, Dec. 16, we’ll host our first-ever Holiday Hope Drive-Thru Food Pick-Up. We’ll invite our community to drive through and pick up grocery bags assembled with all the ingredients they’ll need to make a holiday meal. Even though the event isn’t for another month, we need help starting now, as we begin collecting food donations. We’re asking our Hillside family to bless our community by assembling bags of groceries individually, or with a group. Our goal is to distribute 100 bags. Stop by the ministry counter today to pick up a shopping list and a grocery bag to fill. More information with a link to SignUp Genius to volunteer is available at hillsidemn.org/events – click box SERVE Holiday Hope.

Do you know someone who would be blessed by a bag of food? Anyone in the community is welcome to pick up a bag on Dec. 16, but pre-registration is required. Invitation cards with information about the offer and where to pre-register are available on the ministry counter in the worship center lobby for you to share.

NEIGHBORHOOD CHRISTMAS CAROLING Along with the food drive thru on Friday, Dec. 16, there will also be the opportunity to join a group to visit nearby neighborhoods to sing Christmas carols and distribute invitations to our Christmas Eve services. Exact times TBD. Bring the whole family and help us spread some Christmas cheer, along with an invitation to hear the reason for the season!
