NIKKI WALLACE   -

Welcome to our “Meet the Staff” column, where we’ll get to know each of Hillside’s staff members a little better, “Q & A” style!

Name:

Kara Skogg

What is your job title?

Director of Operations & City Renewal.

What are your job responsibilities?

I make sure that our staff is able to do ministry, and have fun doing it! That means overseeing finances, IT, the facility, safety, and staff culture! I have also very recently added thinking through how Hillside can become more involved in helping renew our city (Bloomington and surrounding communities).

How long have you worked at Hillside?

16 years.

Tell us a little bit about your background:

I grew up in Richfield. I went to college at the University of Minnesota. I worked in the biotech industry before having kids and then I stayed home with them until my youngest went to kindergarten. That is when I started part-time at Hillside.

What are some favorite parts about your job and/or working at Hillside in general?

I love that no two days are the same. I love being able to help our staff and volunteers do what they love and knowing that people are following Jesus because of it.

Name a favorite passage of Scripture or book of the Bible, and why you like it.

I like Hebrews because it is a great guidebook for me as a believer. Jesus is King and I need to remember that and remain faithful even when challenges come my way.

What are some of your hobbies?

Swimming, DIY projects, gardening.

Household/family info?

I am married to Ryan and I have two adult daughters.

What city (or general area of the Twin Cities) do you live in?

Eden Prairie.
