New Ministry Spotlight: Intentional Fatherhood

NIKKI WALLACE   -

On Thursday, September 26, Hillside is launching a new class: Intentional Fatherhood. It’s a class designed for dads who want to lead their kids toward Christ with purpose and intention, and it will be taught by Pastor Brian Gingerich and Josh Levine.

Read below what Pastor Brian had to say about Intentional Fatherhood: the driving vision behind it, and it’s desired outcome!

Q: What is “Intentional Fatherhood?”.

Brian: This is a class to help dads to partner with their wives to create and implement a discipleship program catered to their specific context and family dynamics.

Q: Where did the idea/inspiration for this ministry come from?

Brian: A group of guys read Jon Tyson’s book, Intentional Fatherhood. This book created inspiration and a desire to be more engaged as parents with practical tools and a clear vision for how to train up their children. Josh and I want to see parents more engaged in the training and development of their kids for God’s glory and the good of their children.

Q: What will the class be like?

Brian: This class will be practical. The goal is to read Tyson’s book, process his ideas together, and then craft a discipleship plan (something more, but not less, than reading the Bible with your kids). Josh and I will provide additional tools, idea, and information that parents can implement.

Q: What are your hopes for this ministry?

Brian: That dad’s will partner with their wives in training their kids into godliness. We want parents to do more than simply read their Bibles with their kids and attend an hour-long church service on Sunday mornings. Parents need to be engaged and intentional with the spiritual, physical, and emotional development of their kids. Our hope is that our children will become resilient followers of Jesus in a dark age, and that they’ll be able to replicate what they’ve received with their own kids. Our hope is to create a legacy worth passing down to future generations.

Q: Who should sign up for Intentional Fatherhood?

Brian: Younger dads would benefit from this, but any dad is welcome.

Q: Why would you encourage someone to sign up for this class?

Brian: Our kids are being formed. There’s no question about that. The question is what is forming them? Culture? Friends? Social Media? One hour on Sunday morning? Parents need to take a more active role in the formation and development of their children and this class will help parents in that direction.

Dads, if this sounds like a good fit for you, register here. Registration for the Intentional Fatherhood class is only open for a few more days, so sign up today!
