House of Prayer: Wednesday Night Prayer Meetings | 6:30PM
August 16 – December 13, 2023
Hillside Church is devoted to being a "house of prayer" where all things are done prayerfully and in dependence upon the Lord. We invite you to join us in the various kinds of prayer below in the hope of the promise of the Bible: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea" (Habakkuk 2:14).
Our prayer theme, Reclaim a Generation, comes from Psalm 78:4. Our children and students face so many challenges in their generation—unlike we’ve ever known—and we need to come around them in prayer, hope, and encouragement. We need to remind them of God’s faithfulness!
“… tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.”
Psalm 78:4
House of Prayer is a time of corporate prayer. This Spirit-driven, pastor-led time of worship and intercession is focused on praying with hope for the needs of our church, community, and beyond. The prayers of those gathered are valued as the driving force behind the movement of the Holy Spirit throughout our ministries. House of Prayer is held most Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:45.
A special room on our campus is designated as a place devoted to passionately pursuing the purposes of God. Throughout the year Hillside offers seasons of 24/7 or 24-hour prayer with sign-ups for prayer times both day and night. The prayer room is also made available to individuals for concentrated times of prayer. Prayer resources are available on the slatwall in our hallway.
On the first Friday of each month, you are invited to join our pastors/elders and the prayer team on a prayer call from 6:00 – 6:30A. For a half-hour, we pray for our nation, for revival, and for the ministries of Hillside Church. Learn more here.
The first Friday of each month we host 24 hours of prayer from Friday at 6AM to Saturday at 6AM, via a continuous Zoom call. Sign up with a group of friends for an hour slot (or more), then hop on the Zoom call during your time slot. Prayer points are provided. Pray for revival and spiritual awakening in our city every First Friday!
Each January, we invite Hillside attenders to fill out a prayer card – one per family – regarding a specific request they would like prayer for in the coming year. Those requests are printed on a card with a family picture. Throughout the year the cards are prayed over (in our House of Prayer, staff meetings, elder meetings, and special seasons of prayer in the prayer room) and signed by those who prayed. At the end of the year, each family’s card is mailed back to them, filled with the signatures of those who prayed for them during the year. It’s an exciting reminder to them of God’s faithfulness to answer prayers.
Click here to have monthly prayer requests from each staff member emailed to you, that you may lift them up in prayer.
Several times throughout the year, we set up a “Drive-Thru Prayer” in the parking lot at Hillside Church as an opportunity for people in our community to receive prayer through an innovative and non-threatening invitation. We use brightly colored signs, friendly smiles, and waves to draw traffic into our parking lot where we listen to people’s needs and pray for them — all in the “safety” of their car. This is just one strategic way that we seek to bless our community with the love of Christ.
Every July, the congregation of Hillside Church embarks on a season of prayer and fasting, with many people participating in a “Daniel” fast based on Daniel 1:8-16. We pray together on specific prayer points and have special times of corporate prayer on Wednesday evenings throughout the month (including a family prayer night and a prayer for healing service). This is a time when together as a church we can focus our prayer and devotion to the Lord and our yearly prayer theme.
There are occasions when we would love to call people to pray around our community at strategic times and in key places. If you would like to be on that team, we will email you when opportunities arise with the date and location for a time of prayer, usually around a half-hour in length. The time of prayer will be led by one of our prayer team members or staff. We believe” praying on site with insight” is powerful and effective. It will also give us greater hearts for our city.
Hillside observes several prayer initiatives and throughout the year invites the congregation to join for corporate or individual prayer times. These include:
