HILLSIDE NEWS
FALL FEST – this Wednesday! NO House of Prayer or other regular activities until Oct. 26, due to FallFest and MEA.
Wednesday, Oct. 12, join us for an evening of fall FUN for you and your family & friends! From 5:30 – 8:00pm you can enjoy live music, bon fires, crafts, games and more! Our Wednesday night supper will be chili and will have an extended serving time (5:30 – 7pm). Hillsiders register as usual for the supper, your guests eat free. (If you know you are bringing a guest, it would be helpful for the kitchen team to add them to the count. Use the discount code when registering a guest and there will be no cost for them.) HILLSIDE FAMILY: We need YOU! Volunteer opportunities are posted at hillsidemn.org/fallfest.
STUDENT MINISTRY – Scholarships Needed Trout Lake Camps fall youth retreats are full of what students need to navigate their world and point them to Jesus! This year the retreat is Nov. 4-6 and, as in past years, is anticipated to be one of the highlights of the student ministry year! The cost per student is $155 and there are a few students who need financial help. Would you be willing to support student ministry and help a student go on the Fall Retreat? You can donate on your ChurchCenter app or at hillsidemn.org/giving (the drop down will give you the option to choose “Student Ministries Scholarships”).
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES Deliver great joy and the Good News of Jesus to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes packed with small toys, school supplies and personal care items. Your box becomes a tangible expression of God’s love. For many children, it is their first gift ever! For easy-to-follow directions on choosing an age group, boy or girl, and what items are approved to go into a shoebox visit: samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box. When your box is filled and ready to go, bring it to the Worship Center lobby beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5. The LAST day boxes will be accepted is Sunday, Nov. 13. This year our kids in Children’s Ministries have a goal of collecting 150 shoeboxes! Let’s help them! For more information contact Tara Hammett: tara@hillsidemn.org.
MARRIAGE CLASS Have you ever wondered what God had in mind when He created marriage? Why are men and women so different? How can we communicate effectively? How do we get over some of the hurt from our past? These and many other questions will be answered in the five-week Marriage Class led by Caryl Hayward that begins Oct. 26, 6:30pm, in room 208. Register at hillsidemn.org/adulteducation. (The class meets until Nov. 30 – there is no class Nov. 23.)
TOGETHER FOR GOOD Hillside is excited to begin a partnership with Together for Good – a ministry that comes alongside vulnerable children and isolated parents in times of need by providing supportive host families who are willing to provide respite care to struggling families by hosting children in their own home (usually for a night or two at a time). If you are interested in becoming an approved host family, Hillside is hosting a Together for Good training session tomorrow night, Oct. 10, 6:30 – 9:00pm, in the library. If you’re not able to be a host family at this time, you can help by providing support with practical needs of families hosting children. The current need is so great – please prayerfully consider how you can get involved. Complete the interest form found at hillsidemn.org/events and we’ll respond with more information and next steps.
MASTERS WARRIORS – MARTIAL ARTS Learn a blended style of martial arts that will equip you physically and mentally, and spiritually strengthen your walk with Jesus, Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30pm, in the cafeteria. Open to men and women and students (age 11 and up). The class is ongoing through the year and is always open to new students. Now is a good time to join! For more information visit: hillsidemn.org/masterswarriors.
THE GOSPEL PROJECT The Gospel Project is a chronological Bible study that examines how ALL Scripture gives testimony to Jesus and God’s plan of redemption! Each lesson stands on its own – join us at any time, Sundays, 9:15am, room 156.
CHILD DEDICATION A child dedication is offered during for both worship services on Sunday, Oct. 16. If your family would like to participate, register on the ChurchCenter app, or hillsidemn.churchcenter.com.
