HILLSIDE NEWS

TO OUR GUESTS:

We’re glad you are here today! After the service, please look for our Welcome Center counter (under the “I’m New Here” sign in our lobby). Someone there will be happy to answer any questions you have about Hillside. We’d also love for you to fill out an “I’m New Here” card, so that we can connect you with information about Hillside that may be helpful to you.

HILLSIDE NEWS

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 6:30pm, you are invited to our annual Hillside tradition of gathering together in the Worship Center to spend time giving God praise for all the blessings He has so lovingly given us this past year. There will be time throughout the evening for you to share what you are personally thankful for. Each family is asked to bring a pie (please drop it off in the kitchen before the service) to share during the time of fellowship in the cafeteria following our time of praise – another Hillside tradition you won’t want to miss! (There will be no supper or Wednesday Connect activities or programs that night. The church office will be closed Nov. 24 & 25.)

STRIKE FORCE PRAYER TEAM This prayer team is alerted when we sense a need to pray “on site” somewhere in our city. For instance, several people gathered last Sunday night in front of Bloomington City Hall to pray for the elections. An email will go out with the time and place — and an invitation for you to show up to pray for about a half-hour. If you would like to join this team and receive the alerts, contact Carol Madison, carol@hillsidemn.org.

THANKSGIVING GUESTS Do you have room at your Thanksgiving table for an additional guest/s? Many international students would love to experience an American Thanksgiving while they’re in the U.S. attending college. USA Homestays helps match up one-three students with a host family in the city where they are attending. Share your family’s holiday meal and traditions, and make an international friend! For more information go to usahomestays.org.

MEN’S TURKEY BOWL Guys – it’s hard to believe that this is the 5th year of your annual Turkey Bowl! This year it will be held on the Saturday BEFORE Thanksgiving. A few less days for your intense workout, so hustle up and get that regime started! All men (18+) are invited to play. Warm up begins at 8:30am – game time will be 9 – 11am. We play at the Dred Scott Football Field (east side of the park). Your friends are invited – please register everyone playing by 7:00pm on Friday, Nov. 18, at hillsidemn.org/men, so we can get a headcount. The chicken trophy is on the line!

HILLSIDE HOMESCHOOL MAMAS Are you a homeschool mom who attends Hillside and would like to fellowship with other homeschool moms to ask/give advice and pray with and for? We’d love for you to join us! We meet one Wednesday a month during the Wednesday Connect year. Our next meeting is this Wednesday, Nov. 16, in room 208 (secondary side) from 6:30-8pm (Dec. 14, Jan. 18, Feb. 22, March 22, ends April 12). To ask questions or for more information, an interest form can be filled out at hillsidemn.org/women.

HOLIDAY HOPE DRIVE-THRU FOOD PICK-UP Friday evening, Dec. 16, we’ll be hosting our first-ever Holiday Hope Drive-Thru Food Pick-Up. We’ll invite our community to drive through and pick up grocery bags assembled with all the ingredients they’ll need to make a holiday meal. Even though the event isn’t for another month, we need help starting now, as we begin collecting food donations. We’re asking our Hillside family to bless our community by assembling bags of groceries. You can assemble bags individually, or with a group. Our goal is to distribute 100 bags. Be sure to stop by the ministry counter today to pick up a shopping list and a grocery bag to fill. More information to come!
