HILLSIDE NEWS

TO OUR GUESTS:

We’re glad you are here today! After the service, please look for our Welcome Center counter (under the “I’m New Here” sign in our lobby). Someone there will be happy to answer any questions you have about Hillside. We’d also love for you to fill out an “I’m New Here” card, so that we can connect you with information about Hillside that may be helpful to you.

HILLSIDE NEWS

COMMUNION  On the first Sunday of each month we celebrate Communion – the reenactment of Jesus’ intimate final meal with His disciples before He died on the cross. The bread represents His body, the cup His blood. All are welcome to participate by examining your relationship to Him and surrendering to Him as Lord. Please pick up a communion unit at the table as you enter the worship center. Parents discern when their child is spiritually ready to participate.

Benevolence Offering: On Communion Sunday an offering is taken as you leave the worship service for those in our Hillside family who are experiencing financial difficulties. If contributing, please make checks payable to Hillside Church, or text the dollar amount + the word “benevolence” to 84231.

KIDS CHRISTMAS MUSICAL Wednesday, Dec. 7 & Thursday, Dec. 8, 6:30pm – the Hillside Kids Christmas Players are excited to present this year’s Christmas musical, Sheep in Heavenly Peace. You’re invited to an evening of songs and silliness, all wrapped up in a message about the Good Shepherd Himself. Invite your friends and neighbors! *Note: Wednesday’s performance will also include performances by Hillside Preschoolers and Kindergarteners. The supper on Wednesday will be meatballs and potatoes. Register for supper before the end of today! Please help our kitchen team by registering any guests planning to come to supper with you.

WINTER RETREAT – Jan. 20 – 22 Friday, Jan. 20 – Sunday, Jan. 22 – join us for our second annual Winter Retreat at Lake Beauty Bible Camp! This is a wonderful opportunity to spend the weekend with your Hillside family in worship, play (indoors and out – snow tubing, broomball, laser tag, carpet ball, pickle ball, etc.) while enjoying God’s beautiful winter creation! More information and registration (which closes on Sunday, Dec. 18 or when filled) is available at hillsidemn.org/events (scroll to the bottom of the page). Questions? Contact Amy Aunan: amy@hillsidemn.org. It will be fun weekend for the whole family! Note: An option to register to attend for the day only on Saturday will be made available soon, as well!

HOLIDAY HOPE NIGHT OF OUTREACH This Christmas, we want to reach out to our community with the love of Jesus. With that in mind, we are planning a night of outreach – and we need your help!

DRIVE-THRU FOOD PICK-UP: Friday evening, Dec. 16, from 5-8pm, we’ll host our first-ever Holiday Hope Drive-Thru Food Pick-Up. We’ll invite our community to drive through and pick up grocery bags assembled with all the ingredients they’ll need to make a holiday meal. We’re asking our Hillside family to help by assembling bags of groceries individually, or with a group. Our goal is to distribute 100 bags. Stop by the ministry counter today to pick up a shopping list and a grocery bag to fill. We will also need many volunteers to serve on the night of the pick-up itself and in the days leading up to it. Please sign up to volunteer at hillsidemn.org/serve or the Church Center app.

Do you know someone who would be blessed by a bag of food? Anyone in the community is welcome to pick up a bag on Dec. 16, but pre-registration is required at hillsidemn.org/holidayhope. Invitation cards with information about the offer and where to pre-register are available on the ministry counter in the worship center lobby for you to share.

NEIGHBORHOOD CHRISTMAS CAROLING: On the night of the 16th, we will be dividing into 3-4 groups to visit nearby neighorhoods to sing Christmas carols and distribute invitations to our Christmas Eve services. Bring the whole family! Exact logistics are TBD, but if you are interested, please click Holiday Hope: Night of Outreach at hillsidemn.org/serve or the ChurchCenter app and use the link to sign up.

FINANCIAL UPDATE Next Sunday, we will begin reporting offering numbers on a monthly bases. The reason for this move is because most giving is done either electronically (which varies on when the amounts are sent and processed by Stripe, SubSplash and ACH withdrawl) or sent through the mail (which varies on when the checks are mailed, delivered and counted) which limits the ability to report giving on a weekly basis. Please contact Dir. of Operations Kara Skogg – kara@hillsidemn.org with any questions. Weekly Budget: $29,174.23

11/20/22 Actual: $39,761.54 Difference: + $10,587.31

Year-to-Date: Budget: $612,658.83

Actual: $566,342.28 Difference: – $46,316/55

MEAL TRAIN MINISTRY TEAM Our Meal Train Ministry Team is a group of those willing to bring a meal to a Hillside family or individual in need of one. When a meal need arises a link to a Meal Train schedule will be sent out to the group. If you are able to provide one of the meals – great! If you are unable to help – there is no obligation because there will be other opportunities. If you are interested in joining the team contact Joni Pearson: joni@hillisdemn.org.

PRAYER REQUEST UPDATES All prayer request updates are posted on the ChurchCenter app. At the bottom of the home page go to: My Groups, Prayer Requests & Praises, Messages.
