Meet the Staff: Jon Andrews, Director of Strategy
Welcome to our “Meet the Staff” column, where we’ll get to know each of Hillside’s staff members a little better, “Q & A” style!
Name:
Jon Andrews
What is your job title?
Director of Strategy
What are your job responsibilities?
My job responsibilities at Hillside include HR and coordination of the staff team, partnering with Kara to budget and oversee the finances, and I provide longer term strategy for the church. The strategic side is put into action as Pastor Brian provides vision and mission for the church, and I work to provide a path for us as a church to achieve it.
How long have you worked at Hillside?
2 years
Tell us a little bit about your background:
I grew up around the Twin Cities and attended the University of Minnesota for both by Bachelor’s Degree and later for my Masters in Business Administration. I spent about 15 years working as a corporate business manager for Target, Land O’Lakes, and Post Cereals where I managed brands like Honey Bunches of Oats and Fruity Pebbles.
What are some favorite parts about your job and/or working at Hillside in general?
I love that everyday is different but I am surround by people that are so focused on making Jesus known. The servant hearts that I see from people here at Hillside Church on a daily basis is amazing! I also love being able to think long term about what God may be calling Hillside to do and figuring out how we can help make it happen!
Name a favorite passage of Scripture or book of the Bible, and why you like it.
I love the book of Romans! When I was younger I worked at a camp where I memorized the Roman road and then later I attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and heard John Piper preach through the book and it was very transformational in maturing my faith. I love Romans 6:23 because it sums up the Gospel message in such a clear way.
What are some of your hobbies?
I spend a lot of time playing or attending sports activities with my kids. I like golf (even though I am pretty terrible at it) and disc golf as well as traveling and trying new restaurants with my wife Danielle.
What are a few of your favorite things these days?
I really enjoy audiobooks and lately have been listening to multiple books about the specific needs of raising boys. I also love fantasy novels by Brandon Sanderson.
Household/family info?
My wife Danielle and I have been married for 11 years and we have two elementary aged boys that are very active. We have a lot of family around the Twin Cities so are frequently hitting up events of our extended family!
What city (or general area of the Twin Cities) do you live in?
We live in Bloomington.
