Meet the Staff: Bekah Stoll, Middle School Ministry Leader

NIKKI WALLACE   -

Welcome to our “Meet the Staff” column, where we’ll get to know each of Hillside’s staff members a little better, “Q & A” style!

Name:

Bekah Stoll

Job Title:

Middle School Ministry Leader

What are your job responsibilities?

I have the privilege of walking alongside our middle school students! We have youth group on Wednesday nights and are starting up Bible study on Sunday mornings. During the rest of the week, I prepare lessons for our students and cheer them on as they go through life and share the love of Jesus with others.

How long have you worked at Hillside?

Just hired this month!

Tell us a little bit about your background

I grew up in Roseville, MN with my two brothers, three sisters, mom, and dad. I graduated from the University of Northwestern, St. Paul last year with a degree in Youth and Emerging Adult Studies and General Ministry. Right after I graduated, I worked as an Assistant Preschool Teacher at Northwestern’s Child Development Center and as the Associate Middle School Director at Calvary Church in White Bear. I have spent the past eight summers of my life working at Trout Lake Camps in various roles.

What are some favorite parts about your job and/or working at Hillside in general?

Working with students is so much fun! I enjoy listening to what students are going through, laughing with them, and growing together in love for Jesus and the people around us. The community at Hillside has been very encouraging and welcoming, and I am excited to get to know more people here.

Name a favorite passage of Scripture or book of the Bible, and why you like it.

One of my favorite passages of Scripture is John 14:15-31. Here, we read about how Jesus promised us the gift of the Holy Spirit. How cool is it that the presence of God is always with us? The Holy Spirit reminds us of all Jesus has taught and gives us peace that cannot compare to anything we find on our own. We do not need to be afraid because God is always with us!

What are some of your hobbies?

I love spending time outside (especially in the summer and fall), knitting, spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking, and laughing with people I love.

What are a few of your favorite things these days?

One of my favorite books is Love Does by Bob Goff. It’s full of great stories that I can relate to my life, ministry, and way I interact with the people around me. I love sipping on coffee and walking around Lake Harriet, which is just a few blocks from my house. I’m a big Taylor Swift fan! My favorite snack is the Chili and Lime rolled tortilla chips from Trader Joe’s – they’re so good!

Household/family info

I am the second oldest of six kids, and my older brother and I share a birthday. My family is scattered around Minnesota, but we love to laugh and spend time together as often as we can.

What city (or general area of the Twin Cities) do you live in?

I live in Southwest Minneapolis.
