Meet the Staff: Holly Scheevel, Director of Prayer Ministry

NIKKI WALLACE   -

Welcome to our “Meet the Staff” column, where we’ll get to know each of Hillside’s staff members a little better, “Q & A” style!

Name:

Holly Scheevel

What is your job title?

Director of Prayer Ministry

What are your job responsibilities?

As the Director of Prayer Ministry, I help lead our prayer efforts at Hillside alongside our amazing prayer team. This includes coordinating prayer events throughout the year, like our week of prayer in January and our month of prayer and fasting in July. I also lead many nights at House of Prayer on Wednesdays and coordinate our plans for 24-hour prayer on the first Friday of each month.

How long have you worked at Hillside?

Just started! (June, 2024)

Tell us a little bit about your background:

I grew up in Golden, Colorado and moved to Minnesota in April 2019 to start my career at Baker Publishing Group where I worked as a publicist for five years. I also started attending Hillside in 2019. I served as a youth group leader for a few years, which is how I met my husband, Sam. We married in 2022 and had our first baby two months ago. We started serving on the prayer team together last year and have loved getting to be part of such a vital ministry.

What are some favorite parts about your job and/or working at Hillside in general?

I love getting to pray with a group of Hillside members who are very committed to the prayer ministry at House of Prayer on Wednesday nights. We pray for so many different needs in our own church, in our state, and in our nation. We’ve seen the faithfulness of God through many answered prayers, and I get to witness the faith of others as they pray for many different needs. I also love that I get to work with people who love the Lord and who love our church.

Name a favorite passage of Scripture or book of the Bible, and why you like it.

Hebrews 11 is one of my favorite passages. We get to see the faith of so many before us who were longing for the coming of the Messiah but never got to see Him. It’s a reminder of the confidence we should have in God for all that He has promised.

What are some of your hobbies?

Cooking, crochet, paddle boarding.

What are a few of your favorite things these days?

I’ve been reading a lot of parenting books in this season of life!

Household/family info?

My husband is Sam Scheevel, and we have a two-month old. Sam serves on the prayer team alongside me.

What city (or general area of the Twin Cities) do you live in?

Bloomington.
